A Queenstown couple, aged 46 and 48, came to us in May after selling their first investment property — purchased new in their hometown eight years earlier. Queenstown’s booming property market meant they could pay off the investment’s mortgage entirely and reduce their family home mortgage to just $100k.
While their first investment had been a success, they wanted to diversify into regions with stronger growth prospects and more accessible entry prices. Their aim: grow a portfolio that would fund a secure retirement and provide ongoing passive income.
